Day One – {monotypes & drizzles}
Drizzle…scrape…stencil..stamp...Experiment with printmaking techniques through various painting jumpstarts, learn about color scraping, washing, monotype, eyedropper doodles, gesso textures, dyed cloth stamping & stenciling and glazing. You will be guided to create painted paper backgrounds that spill throughout this book.
DAY Two - {graffiti scribbles}
Learn to incorporate your handwriting as drawing on the pages of your journal. The line functions as composition in these hidden layers of abstract storytelling. You will play with various writing tools to doodle and make a personal “tag” of symbols, drawing letters and patterns. Make your mark with scribbles, doodles and scratches to create layers of abstract lines. Explore a mixture of graffiti lettering, typography collage mixed with freestyle calligraphy.
Day three –{the REVAMPED photo journey}
Begin to build the structure of your journal by creating textured canvas pages with layers of Asian lace papers, revamped photos and collage. You will take your collection of photographs, painted background pages and create mixed media layers and journal covers. Paint abstract floral designs and learn creative ways to display a collection of personal memories.
Day four – {the triptych journal}
Triptych –(usually a panel painting) which is divided into three sections, or three carved panels that are hinged together and folded. The middle panel is the larger one and is flanked by two smaller, but related, works. The final day of the workshop you will finish building the triptych journal using the artwork you’ve created during the week and assemble the journal structure bound with free-form beaded macramé.
