My good friend Kathy Cano-Murillo's new novel MISS SCARLET'S SCHOOL OF Patternelss Sewing hits bookshelves this week! I'm so excited to be part of her blog tour to celebrate the launch of her fabulous novel. She has been such an inspiration with her never-ending enthusiasm and beautiful creative spirit. Check out the book trailer...
{a little about the novel}
Sometimes to find your life's true path, you have to stray outside the lines . . .
Scarlet Santana is never happier than when creating fabulous fashions for women of all shapes and sizes. Now, after years of hard work, she finally has the chance to live her dream and study under the hottest designer in New York. To raise money for her move, Scarlet opens an after-hours sewing school in a local record shop, teaching a type-A working mom whose rigid parenting style is causing her family to unravel and an enigmatic seamstress with a mysterious past.
But as stitches give way to secrets and classmates become friends, the women realize an important truth: There is no single pattern for a good life. Happiness is always a custom fit.

Kathy often uses kernels of her own experiences in her novels. If you could write a novel about your creative life what would be the plot?

hi Traci
for me its about "losing the plot" so to speak! these moments would be my plot.
Just having those emotional breakdowns over not feeling good enough and having courage to fight against these emotions and keep expressing the art regardless of what the critics say. These would be my events that together tie up to make the story. Releasing the emotional baggage through your creativity. the journey. The friends. the bigger picture.
I find this interesting.believing in yourself and your work.Nothing else matters

I guess it would be about juggling art and motherhood... Never a dull moment around here.

I'd be so thrilled to win any of the prizes...I need help with art and sewing.I have begun art journaling with my 3 daughters that I homeschool, but my art looks more like a 2nd grader did it and I hsven't sewn since middle school,so I need help! I really want to be creative and feel free again like I did as a teen when I wasn't so scared to do things. So my plot of my story would be maybe something to do with how I changed myself and believed in myself enough to be creative again.

Hi Traci,
I think the plot of the book would have to be 'art hoarder' or 'art-parts hoarder'. I took a look at my art room last night and was flummoxed by the sheer magnitude of the mess! This weekend I am going to start to neaten it up!

mine would be the adventures of a creative person... it always amazes me the people I meet, places I visit & situations I find myself in living my creative life that changes & evolves.... i'd share lots of techniques too.

I would write about connections - art / life connections - knowings - awakenings - the artists that have crossed my path - the "non-artists" who really are artists - the people who have touched my life in meaningful artistic ways...

Hmmm... great creative question even.... I guess my story-line would center around the garden of life, how planting the seeds of kindness and love and compassion grow roots that blossom into the wild exhuberant colors of joy. Something along those lines.... ;-) (would LOVE to win the book - but will have to read whether I do or not!) Live loved and art on!

My plot would be mainly about my battles with the blank page, my obsession with collage, the colour green, my fixation on the seemingly unimportant details of every single work, and my adventures in colour mixing. (I'd love, love, love to win prize #2... I'm an International player in this giveaway.)

OK, enough of my craziness, what would my plot be?
A woman, on a journey, some may say spiritual even. She is looking high and low for new shades of pink! But, she finds a man, a stranger, who HATES pink! What does she do? Leave the handsome stranger? Or does she try to change him?????
Thanks tons for the chance!!!

It could be about a girl who loves creative things but gets lost and forgets who she really is through a series of life changing events in her middle years, only to come back full circle to art and not only love creating again, but love life as well.
I would be overjoyed to win your book! Thank you for the generous opportunity.
