During this 3-day workshop, you'll build a one-of-a-kind art journal with painted fabrics and papers wrapped with an embellished fiber spine. Explore printmaking, color studies, doodling, collage and book making. The art journal is a space to spill your dreams, hopes, fears and ideas. You'll spend time creating personal graffiti and embark on a photo excursion journey. Each day is full of guided instruction and one optional evening OPEN studio session. 2:00-6:00pm ~ {art journaling OPEN studio}
colorCRUSH impressions {color+ handmade artful stamps + prints}
We'll kick off the workshop exploring aspects of COLOR...color palettes, creating color studies and experiments in mixing color. You'll create a color inspiration board {*flair tray} from the colorful fabrics & embellishments in my studio using this as a guide for your painted creations. We'll spend the afternoon creating handmade stamps & mark-making tools then explore simple printmaking techniques with plexiglas. The art journaling OPEN studio gives you the opportunity to play with all the studio supplies and create in your journal. snacks will be provided.

Doodles Unleashed {doodling + collage}
Throughout the weekend we'll explore techniques from my book Doodles Unleashed and I'll showcase how to use them in journal pages. I'll share technique demonstrations in mark-making, lettering and talk about how to digitally leverage your artwork. We'll continue to work on paintings from the previous day and explore mixed media techniques including collage + doodling. You'll work with a variety of art supplies and materials to create pages for your art journal and begin book construction. The optional evening OPEN studio gives you the opportunity to work in your art journal. The OPEN studio is not a teaching session but you are able to use all the studio supplies to work on projects. Lunch & afternoon tea will be provided.

artJOURNAL LOVE {exploration}
During the final day of the workshop, we'll take a photo excursion and I'll give tips on photography using the iPhone/iPad, working with various apps to create digital images and ideas on how to incorporate your explorations into your art journal. If you don't have an iPhone bring your digital camera. This class session we'll build the journals creating the fiber embellished binding. Throughout the day we'll explore creative prompts and art journaling exercises. continental brunch will be provided.
