{the BIG painted canvas workshop}
On the road again...I'm heading to the International Quilt Festival, at the Long Beach Convention Center in a couple of weeks. This is my fifth year teaching at the IQF events. These FABULOUS events are the best in the quilting world! If you love fabric, sewing, and embellishment...be sure not to miss it!

CHA at Anaheim Convention Center is right around the corner and I'm furiously getting ready for this big week of ART, crafty meetings, product demos and launches. If you love anything related to arts & crafts come out to the CHA Craft Super Show, I will be demoing at the iLoveToCreate booth. OK..I'm a day behind in my 24 days post..but I think I have a good reason :) For the past two days, I've been teaching a mixed media art journaling workshop to high school art students at Le Jardin. These kids are SUPER talented, funny and created amazing paintings and art journals. Their infectious creative spirits and laughs were contagious. I had a wonderful time sharing my gift, painting with them and helping guide their creative energy. It was nice to have a couple of days to paint and watch them have fun playing with color...here's a short video of our creative play days! Alohaaaa...

the evolution of a fusion DYED collage... you can find more ideas on this technique in my book Collage Unleashed and DVD.
draw and doodle on muslin or drill cloth with a black sharpie and a Pilot Toughwash pen. let dry.
collage dyed paper towels and shapes with Collage Pauge over the doodled muslin. when the paper towels dry, the writing will show through
collage sequins and accent writing and doodling with Tulip Slick Dimensional paint
{leverage your art} take a photo of the final piece, make color and black & white photocopies, use this piece as a journal cover, scrapbook page, cut out circles and create ornaments, make gift tags, wrap a holiday gift with a collage, cut into smaller ATCs, stitch a piece on a greeting card, stitch a photo to the collage, experiment with the fusion DYED collage on paper, canvas, wood or a tote bag!

LAUGE.art.Be {ANGEL} ~ Holiday paper ANGEL dolls
These fun paper dolls were made with bits and pieces of my leftover hand painted papers, fusion-dyed collage, printed transparencies and laser collage sheets. They have been attached to graffiti painted backgrounds, journals and dyed paper towels.
The background graffiti BOUQUET collage is now a journal cover. I made this paper doll separately then took a picture of it on top of the journal cover, I think I might just stitch it right onto the cover :) The wings of this doll are black & white photocopies of my artwork.

Thanks to everyone who came out to A Work of Heart last night. I had a great time painting, catching up and chatting about my art process, sharing tips and ideas. some painting fun...a few pics of some of the paintings I started last night...
{techniques for the base layers. these are the first layers of many to come...}
TOP: graffiti print on parchment. monoprints with transparencies using scribbles of TULIP dimensional paint in white and red paint.
BOTTOM: fabric sprayed with Tulip Fashion Sprays and buzz and bloom chipboard. I HEART buzz and bloom. I've been using their heavy chipboard shapes as stencils and masks for backgrounds.
PAINTING ON TOP: part of my new graffiti GLAM girlz series. scrapes of paint. dabs of paint thru sequin waste. girlie glam face drawn with a sharpie. i only used the three primary colors and white paint on this painting. many more layers of markers, pens and paint will be added to this...
some of my FAVE tools & stencils...buzz and bloom chipboard...Collage Pauge..TULIP fashion sprays & the NEW Fashion Graffiti Taggers. Oh and my NEW FAVE snack Pistachio crisps.
