It's been a busy couple of weeks since I wrapped up my digitalCANVAS e-course at the end of April.  I didn't get a chance to post photos from my last studio workshop. The lovely ladies from  Sew 'n' Sews African American Quilt Guild spent the day playing and painting at my studio. One of their members, Marilyn, had taken one of my workshops at International Quilt Festival a few years ago and she contacted me to create a custom workshop. We had a great day experimenting with Doodles Unleashed printmaking techniques on fabric, playing with stencils, handmade stamps and various mediums. Look at all the fabulous fabrics they created!! My Spring weekend color + journal LOVE retreat is coming up this weekend! I'm looking forward to spending 3 days printmaking, doodling and creating handmade art journals. This will be my last studio workshop until the Fall,  I will be taking most of the summer off from teaching to work on my next book!

art journaling weekend retreat

This past weekend I taught my first COLOR + JOURNAL LOVE mixed media retreat at my studio! We had a wonderful, creative three days full of painting, mark-making and book binding to build handmade journals. My students came from all over the west coast, they spent some time exploring downtown Danville and enjoying yummy food too.

We kicked off the workshop with color palette explorations and I taught a session on color mixing. Then we dove into making handmade stamps/stencils and spent a day printmaking with plexiglas, creating pages with colorful, juicy layers of textures and marks. Everyone made FABULOUS one-of-a-kind art journals embellished with fibers, macrame and beads. Little Indie girl came by for a visit on the final day. :) Here's a peek inside our AMAZING weekend!

Last weekend I taught my first studio workshop of 2013. I had a fabulous group of students join me for artJOURNAL PLAY date..an afternoon of painting and mixed media play.

It's been wonderful to have people come visit my studio. Both my September and January art JOURNAL workshops were sold out. I'll be teaching another art JOURNAL PLAY date in March which focuses on mixed media faces and hosting an art journal open studio.

Just a reminder, I'm not teaching on the road this year..so take a trip out to California to come PLAY at my studio!! My next 3-day studio workshop is in the Spring...

Join me for a day of art journaling & mixed media PLAY at my studio! This is a 5-hour workshop that explores various background techniques including working with gesso, handmade stamps, stencils and doodling. We'll create painted collage papers, build juicy layers on the page, work with images, draw stylized faces and play with creative lettering. This workshop focuses on art journaling techniques on fabric. You'll receive an art journaling workbook, mixed media paper kit and mark-making tool kit as part of the workshop.

Add a little handmade flair to holiday gifts and spend an afternoon with me painting at my studio. In these workshops we'll explore printmaking with plexiglass, collage and creating HOLIDAY paper projects. Each session we will make handmade stamps & stencils with a holiday theme. In the December 1st session we'll focus on making hand painted papers & fabrics and turn them into colorful holiday stationary, gift tags and garland. • september has been full of art making, teaching, painting, stitching & creating
• I've been making new art journals which I will be selling in my digital shoppe starting in October
• lots of new collage & art journaling kits, stitched journal cards and new products coming soon!
• my first Art journal PLAY date workshop at my studio was fabulous, I had a full class and we had a great day of mixed media PLAY! I'll be posting my FALL/WINTER studio workshop schedule next week.
• designed new FALL window displays in the studio
• posting #artjournalingdaily prompts on Instagram..lots of creative ideas!
• planning for my new AUTUMN creative business camp blog series. I'll be sharing business & marketing posts to get you ready for the holidays & 2013...more details soon!
• getting ready for my new TYPE + letters online workhop, sign up by 9/21 to save $20!
• DIGITAL shop update--->working..working..designing my new digital boutique. I've had so many other projects & deadlines, I had to put the launch on hold. I'm hoping to get it launched in October in time for the holidays.
• working on a AMAZING DIY program with iLoveTo Create, which will launch on my blog in October!!
• and I can't forget to mention...taking care of our little puppy Indie, who is now 12 weeks. so precious!

{studio 323*7} celebration

I've just returned home, after being out of the studio most of last week teaching at IQF Long Beach. Finally getting a chance to share a few snapshots from my {studio 323-7} grand opening. My niece took a bunch of photos but I still have to get them from her, so I'm posting these for now.  The celebration was fabulous, I enjoyed a great day with my lovely family, friends and artists. Thank you to everyone who came, I truly appreciate your support! Also, a HUGE thanks to my sister, Jasmine and Tyler for all your help setting up!  If you missed the party and would like to come by for a visit, I am open by appointment send me an email. xoxo~Traci
