An exercise I to do to jump start projects is to brainstorm an adjective bank. Write a list of words that come to mind for 2-5 minutes based on your theme. Then use the words to research your theme online on google, Etsy, Twitter or Flickr. I used my word list to search photos on flickr and curate a gallery of inspriation photos.
art journal exercise: write words/phrases that describe and remind you of the holidays. collage images of these words on the page. write a story of a memory that reflects the images. take photographs that relate to your words, print and collage those. collect paint chips of holiday color combos and tape them into your journal.
