I shared my art journaling process and mentioned that inside my journals often you will find stitched pages. I stitch painted paper, vellum, photocopies of my artwork and hand-dyed fabric together to create pages. Sometimes I'll "tip" them inside existing journal pages attaching them with colored masking tape or staples. there are so many possiblites...
doodle on construction paper stitch an oval over a photocopy
scrape paint on cardstock & straight stitch
draw lines with dimensional paint, add a zig zag in a contrast color
stamp & stitch...draw journaling lines with the sewing machine
stitch fabric scrap to a painted & doodled piece of paper & b/w photocopy
stitch four pieces of paper together..doodle with your sewing machine
take photos of your stitches and use them as journal blocks
experiment with different papers & fabrics, threads and machine stitches. if you don't have a sewing machine, decorate your pages with hand stitching and embroidery floss.
TIP: stitch papers that have been slightly stained with paint and have "open" areas of white space. This will give you space to write, draw and collage as you work in your journal.
