artJOURNALING daily {holiday} LOVE: printmaking fun
Here's a quick and fun tutorial to create collage papers and backgrounds for your art journal using plexiglass. If you don't have an acrylic sheet, you can also use freezer or parchment paper to transfer the paint. I love using Tulip Slick Dimensional Paint {aka "puffy paint"} in all sorts of way, especially to make prints on fabric and paper.

Tulip Slick Dimensional Paint
plexiglass or freezer/parchment paper
paper or fabric
>>>>>>>>to create Puffy Paint prints
- step one: Doodle onto plexiglass plate with various colors of Tulip Slick dimensional paint. I use a 16 x20" plate. you can get sheets of plexi cut down or precut at the hardware store.
- step two: Add thicker marks with a Tulip Fashion Graffiti dimensional fabric paint tagger
- step three: place a piece of paper over the paint doodles on the plexiglass plate. rub the back of the paper lightly to transfer the print.
- step four: this photo reveals the pulled print
>>>>>>>>additonal tips
- make sure paint layers are dry before you add dimensional paint prints for the best results
- to create smaller transfers, cut freezer paper of parchment paper into 5 x 7" rectangles. doodle dimensional paint onto paper, then turn over the paper onto fabric to transfer the print
- touch the tip of the paint bottle lightly to the surface and move quickly as you write or draw to avoid getting large clumps of paint
- if you write words, write them backward so when the print is transferred the words are legible
- use bright contrast colors that will "pop" off the background
- draw over the prints with dimensional paints
- use the prints in your art journal..glue or stitch the in
- cut out printed shapes and tie on twine to make holiday ornaments
- use one of my holiday color palettes to inspire you paint choice
- use this technique to create HOLIDAY gift wrap {check out my video making collaborative gift wrap with my niece}
