My style reMIX creative campaign continues with another color inspiration post. Tie dye is one of the hot late spring/summer 2013 trends in fabric and fashion. I recently hosted a tie dye event and I've seen the trend on swimsuits, home decor projects, nails and hair.
tie dye. dip dye. hawaiian flora. fiber decor. ----> NEON heat.
Here's a few of my painted creations that dive into the trend. The photos of the tie + dip dyed fabrics were created with Tulip One-step Fashion Dyes with various remnants of cotton fabrics include muslin, gauze and jersey. I love working with dyes using ziploc bags. I dip into one color then scrunch the fabric and dip into another color.
Most of my dyed fabrics will be used in handmade art journals or tote bag projects. The image in the fifth photo shows the detail of one of my free motion stitched art journal covers. I've used the painted fabrics and my art journal explorations to create my latest color palette: neon heat. The colors evoke the memories of coming hot summer days and colorful sunsets that will soon be present. I've captured hints of my NEON heat colors in colorful photos of hawaiian flora and fiber embellished displays at Anthropologie.
what's inspiring your color palette these days?
