Exciting news...my latest article is on newsstands NOW! Check out the new September issue of Somerset Digital Studio. I share my favorite iPad apps for digital art journaling including a few images that I've created on the go. I love Procreate, ArtRage, Noteshelf and Paperby53..just to name a few. It's amazing what you can do with the iPad and a stylus to create colorful paintings and art journal pages!  Here's a little sneak peek...

Explore the world of digital art journaling, drawing and painting in depth in my digitalCANVAS e-course! This online class explores a variety of digital app mashups and incorporate digital drawing, painting, collage, stencils, stamps, photo layers and creative letterforms all using the iPad! treiCdesigns DIGITALS: art journaling cards

Are you having fun yet?  I hope you've been enjoying perusing my new website. Over the next few posts I will be sharing NEW products featured in the shoppe. Once of my favorite items are my collection of printable art journaling cards. These are delivered in both PDF an .PNG formats. The PDFs can be printed in any program that reads PDFs. Once you print them, cut them to size, most measure 3" x 4" and 4"x 6" with a few smaller sizes. Then add them to your journals and day planners, like I did for one of my monthly calendar planners in the photo below.

{photo above} I used the featherPOP art journaling card on the cover of my monthly planner. I wrote words, added rub-on letters, drew doodles, applied washi tape and machine stitched it to a manila folder to make the cover of my planner.

Here are a few ideas for using for the art journaling cards...

• stitch them onto manila folders to create pockets
• use them as recipe cards or to write notes
• glue them into your day planner to add a splash of color
• tape them to the wall as a color inspiration palette
• print the cards onto card stock and use them to make handmade cards
• create colorful inspiration flash card reminders
• hand them with a wooden clothes pin on twine or string
• attach a photo on them
• use as inserts into your Project Life or Photo Freedom photo sleeves
• write your goals, ideas and thoughts on the cards
• use them for your one little word project
• use the PNG files for digital scrapbooking
• print them onto inkjet fabric sheets or self adhesive labels then attached them to your journal

{photo above} feather POP art journaling cards - use them as flash card reminders for BIG projects or goals. write down the project then hang them on your bulletin board or attach to your calendar.

artJOURNALING fridays: hearts

happy February lovelies!! You'll see alot of red, pink and HEARTS on my blog this month.  To get you in the Valentine spirit I'm sharing  a mini how-to video + digital image. The artwork in the image above was created by painting with my Graffiti Glam stamps and handmade HEART stencils using Tulip fabric paints and sprays on muslin. I took a photo of the painted fabric using the Hipstamatic app then imported it into Photoshop CS6 and layered with type. I wrote the word "heart" with my Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet.

How has your art journaling practice been going? As for me, I've found that I am journaling more on my iPad. But I did spend the past few days in the studio painting and creating some fun projects that I'll be sharing this month.

I've been having fun creating these little #vine video snippets...it really challenges me to figure out creative ways to share a story in 6 secs. {find me on vine at Traci Bautista}

• what are your FEBRUARY goals? write about them in your journal
• what does your HEART say?
• create heart stencils or print patterns with HEART stamps
• {crayon resist} draw HEARTS with red crayons then wash pink watercolor over the top 
• write a quote about HEARTS in your journal
• cut out heart shapes and collage them into your journal pages
• collage HEART shaped doilies
• stitch a heart onto painted fabric
