Today I'm sharing the LOVE with another art journaling tutorial. This video continues my HEARTS art journaling backgrounds tutorial series. There are a number of stamping, stenciling and painting techniques on paper and fabric. I showcase my graffiti GLAM art stamps and ILoveTo Create paints building colorful layers on muslin and Strathmore mixed media paper. All the techniques I share in the videos are great jumpstarts to make your own papers for collage, art journals, scrapbook projects or Project Life creations. Enjoy!

super star saturday with susan lenart kazmer & ice resin

Today kicks off my Doodles Unleashed online book tour with my fun video interview on the Ice Queen blog. I stopped by the Ice Resin booth at CHA where Carol interviewed me for Super Star Saturdays. I give a little peek inside the book and answer a few questions. Hop on over to watch! The image above is a section of the graffiti canvas that I painted for Susan. You can see more of it on page 95 in Doodles Unleashed.

SLK {Susan Lenart Kazmer} and I go way back, she is a dear friend who I admire not only for her phenomenal talent but for her loving spirit. I met susan at Artfest back in 2003 and have taught at the same retreats. We have spent many wonderful times sharing our stories, talking business, laughing, joking and of course our favorite pastime..drinking wine and sometimes shots of Patron..lol. Her artwork is AMAZING, I don't wear much jewelry but when I wear my SLK adornments they are always show stoppers. {check out my ring in the video} She is truly an inspiration! thanks Susan..love ya girl!

Here's a colorful art journal background with a winter palette including shades of blue with a little pop of bright red and fuchsia color. Paint your favorite winter colors in your journal!

ART JOURNAL technique: TRANSPARENCY monoprints

To create this background roll out turquoise paint onto a transparency with a soft rubber brayer then doodle over it with White Tulip Slick dimensional paint. {TIP} work fast because the paint dries quickly. You can also mix a little Acrylic Glazing Liquid to extend the drying time of your paint. Place the painted side of the transparency onto a piece of black construction paper, rub it lightly to transfer the paint then scratch marks into it with the back of the transparency with the end of a paint brush and skewer. Let dry. Apply paint with a foam brush to handmade stamps and found tools press onto the background then repeat stamp patterns.

Digital Art Journaling technique {top photo}---> Leverage your art to create a digital journal image. Take a photo or scan the art journal page, then import it into your favorite photo altering program. The photo above was imported into Photoshop CS5. A layer of text "Winter Wonder" is placed over the photo then I added snowflake and flower doodles drawing with my Wacom Pen Tablet. day 2 {24} HOLIDAY inspirations 2011: holiday nouveau color palette FREE download

Yesterday, I shared colorful HOLIDAY prints & patterns. For DAY 2 of {24} HOLIDAY inspirations...a holiday nouveau color palette! Inspired by the coloful graphics in the photos from my inspiration journey, I created a color palette and patterns using coulourlovers and incorporated the colors in my new mixed media paintings. Here's my interpretation of the holiday nouveau color palette.  Enjoy the merry & bright inspiration...

a few things you can do with the digital art journaling kits...

• stitch the pages to your art journal
• cut and collage the printed papers into your sketchbook and paint them
• create paper beads
• print on inkjet fabric sheets and stitch an art journal cover
• cut strips from the backgrounds and glue them as borders on your art journal pages
• the kits can even be used to create holiday cards

Don't worry if you don't know how to use Photoshop, you can still use the digital elements and printable papers. They are easy to print in any program. I'll be sharing a few fun tutorials that show how to incorporate them into your mixed media art...the possibilities are endless!
