Today on the ILTC blog they are sharing their creative team building project inspired by my online workshops and Doodles Unleashed. Last week, they watched one of my online workshops for their monthly sales & marketing team meeting and the entire group spent the afternoon painting and creating name cards for their office...super fun!

painting Girlie Glams & a GIVEAWAY with PanPastel

The celebration continues on my Doodles Unleashed online book tour today with another one of my favorite creative companies PanPastel. I love their vibrant soft pastel colors for my mixed media paintings, especially the Bright Yellow Green which I used on fabric {unbleached muslin} in this Girlie Glam painting. There is also a link in the book to a video tutorial showcasing how to create this face.

In the Hand Drawn Letters section of Doodles Unleashed, I used a few of PanPastel colors to paint the letter "U", then doodled with Sakura Gelly Roll Pens over the top and used a USPS priority mail box as the surface. I will be sharing more hand drawn lettering techniques and videos in my upcoming REDEFINE the Doodle online workshop series.

painted art jounal canvas TUTORIAL with Luminarte

Today on my Doodles Unleashed online book tour, I am the guest artist on the Creative Imaginations Luminarte blog! I used Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists and Twinkling H20s in a few projects in Doodles Unleashed. The paint colors are FABULOUS and add a glimmer of sparkle to my mixed media creations. Christine Adolph and I shared resist painting techniques, in which we both used Luminarte paints. I also used the new Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glazes in my girlie glam painting video. Oh..and their NEW Artist's Pigments are FABULOUS..I've been playing with them mixed with Collage Pauge..more fun tutorials coming!

In the final weeks of winter, I decided to paint a few canvas {drill cloth} art journal backgrounds using some found snowflake stencils with shades of blue and purple.

Today (March 6} we're having a TWITTER doodle party and LIVE chat for my Doodles Unleashed online book tour stop with my good friend Kathy Cano-Murillo aka "the Crafty Chica". Kathy and I have shared many great conversations and fun times throughout the past decade of our careers as an independent artists. We both celebrated the 10-year anniversary of launching our creative business websites in 2011. We've talked for hours about creative business, family and art. She has always been super supportive, openly sharing ideas and creative business advice..for that I am so grateful! :) Last year, I had the honor of being the special guest artist on her Crafty Chica Cruise and it was FABULOUS! {VIDEO} a collaborative painting & GIVEAWAY with stephanie corfee

I am super excited to share today's Doodles Unleashed online book tour stop with you because I'm vising my new fabulous doodling pal, artist, designer and author of Creative Doodling and Beyond, Stephanie Corfee!! Every time I visit Amazon, I would see my book paired with hers as "Frequently Bought Together", so I ventured out to her website and found a vibrant, creative soul..instantly fell in LOVE with her artwork. It's colorful, inspiring and simply beautiful. So when I started planning my book tour, I sent her an email to ask her if she'd like to join in the party and she said YES!! We spoke on the phone for over an hour and it was like talking to an old high school pal.:) she's such a sweetheart! I love that art brings people together, I definitely have met wonderful people through sharing my art.  

Our books definitely go hand in hand. You will LOVE every page of Stephanie's book, it's full of creative doodling exercises, examples of her gorgeous artwork and lots of room to PLAY with pages you can practice your own doodles. It's a MUST HAVE for inspiration and great techniques.

So we brainstormed the idea of doing an East coast meeets West coast collaborative doodling project and I asked Stephanie to start with one of her fabulous painting techniques and film it. She sent me over the video and artwork...look at this gorgeousness...

We work in a very similar fashion, painting serendipitously, the brush dances across the page, getting lost in vibrant colors and mark-making. I loved watching Stephanie’s painting process and decided to incorporate her painting into my artwork. a little about my creative process...I printed out Stephanie's painting on my inkjet printer and cut out free form shapes with a craft knife. Next up, I painted a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media 300 series paper with Creative Imaginations Luminarte Silks , let it dry, then used Collage Pauge Glossy to adhere the cut pieces to the painted surface. The Girlie Glam doodle was done with a size 1 round brush dipped in Speedball India Ink. More layers of paint were added...

digital scrapbooking & book review with jennifer perkins

The next stop on my Doodles Unleashed online book tour is with my very good friend and all-around crafty gal Jennifer Perkins of Naughty Secretary Club. Jenn and I met on the set of Craft Lab back in 2005 and it was a match made in artsy crafty heaven :) We've had fun doing all sorts of projects and hanging out together over the years, we had a pajama crafting party, partied in Vegas, made holiday ornaments, created funky brooches at CHA, did a little thrifting in Austin and I also interviewed her for my Creativity Unleashed column in Somerset Studio back in the day.

In the Handmade and Found Materials section of Doodles Unleashed, I talk about using vintage plastic jewelry as painting tools..some of my FAVE are Jenn's Crafty Curios. They're not only great for printmaking but also for embellishing my art journal bindings and handmade jewelry.

Today Jenn's sharing a review of Doodles Unleashed for iLoveToCreate and some of her LOVELY digital scrapbooking designs using my new digital art journaling kits and printables that will be in my new digital boutique soon!

{snapshots} doodles unleashed book release celebration

Last weekend I celebrated with fellow artists, friends and family at my Doodles Unleashed book release party at The Studio. Enjoy a few snapshots of the party. My good friends from Scrumpoptious made the DELISH and artistic cakepops and cookie cupcake desserts. I had a doodling table for everyone to play and draw..the hit of the party! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate, I had a FABULOUS time!

Today is all about RESIST painting techniques on my Doodles Unleashed online book tour stop with my talented friend and designer Christine Adolph, who licenses designs for beautiful scrapbook products with Creative Imaginations, fabric, rubber stamps and stationery. I was introduced to Christine's artwork through Stampington & Co. around ten years ago and every year enjoy our chats about art and business catching up at CHA. I just love..love and admire all of her mixed media artwork, inspiration sketchbooks and foil techniques. She is a true inspiration!

In Doodles Unleashed I used a few of Christine's CI licensed foil products {see photo above}, which are FAB! Also, in my book there is a section about Collage Pauge Resist and I'm sharing about that on Christine's blog today PLUS she is giving away a set of Creative Imaginations Foils and Sticy2's!! 

When I asked Christine to be part of the blog tour, she had the idea of sharing our RESIST techniques since we both use them in our artwork. She designed this FABULOUS Krylon Foil Resist tutorial to share with you just for my blog tour. She developed this unique painting technique after a lot of experimenting and it's GORGEOUS!!

art journal project with Hambly Screen Prints

Today's Doodles Unleashed online book tour stop is at Hambly Screen Prints. I'm sharing some art journal LOVE...I heart Hambly! I LOVE to incorporate Hambly's wonderful overlays, silk screen papers and rub-ons in the pages of my art journals and calendar/planner. In my new book Doodles Unleashed I used a few of Hambly products in my mixed media creations. While brainstorming my Hambly blog tour post, Allison, their Art Director suggested I play along in this months Sketch Challenge and I thought it would be fun.
